The Autonomous Region of Sardinia

The Sardinian Region has long taken its part in the promotion of economic and cultural relations between all the countries in the Mediterranean basin.

The international summits held on the Island (the Italy-Algeria bilateral summit and the D10) have further highlighted Sardinia's role, while all the initiatives connected to the Enpi CBC programme confirm the fact that the countries in this area share a common cultural idenitity.

This is obviously a great opportunity which the Region has taken to heart, organising events that are a further means for putting the experience of these Mediterranean communities in contact with each other. This is the setting for the “Emporio Mediterraneo - Craftsmen and Skills", an international project with the aim of safeguarding the age-old "know how" of the countries in the Mediterranean basin which come into contact with each other through a comparison of the techniques being used, the potential of which is so often ignored by the market. Thus the “Emporio Mediterraneo” intends to contribute to the sustainable development of the countries in the Mediterranean, through the transfer of skills between artisan crafts, without any linguistic or cultural barriers.
