The first edition of “Emporio Mediterraneo – Craftsmen and Skills of the Mediterranean” will be held from 5 to 8 March 2009.

March 3 and 4 will be spent in preparation for the artisans' extemporaneous work; from March 5 to 8, visitors and buyers from all over the world can see the craftsmen at work as they demonstrate their techniques and skills, each in their own purpose-built workshop.

The event will be held in Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, in the buildings and open spaces of the Trade Fair Showgrounds. The event takes place over 14.000 sq. m. of exhibition space (5,000 sq. m indoors and 9,000 sq. m. outdoors).

200 artisans are taking part from a number of Mediterranean countries, including Spain, France, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Israel, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Turkey. Furthermore artisans from Iran, Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Portugal should also be present.

The excellence of Sardinian craftsmanship will also be well represented at the event. Likewise a number of  artisans will arrive from the other Italian Regions such as Piedmont, Liguria, Tuscany, Lazio, Abruzzo, Umbria, Marche, Campania and Calabria.
